RYAN Schoenmakers will continue playing for Hawthorn in 2015.
The versatile big man was reported to be on the trade table earlier this week, receiving interest from Adelaide and Fremantle.
Despite the Hawks recruiting free agent James Frawley to prop up a premiership defence that already includes Brian Lake and Josh Gibson, Schoenmakers said he was keen to fight for a spot.
And on Wednesday night it was made official through a club statement.
"We’re very pleased Ryan has decided to continue to play on with Hawthorn,” general manager of football operation Chris Fagan said.
"We’re happy that he will remain a Hawk and we look forward to him making a significant contribution to the team next year.”
Schoenmakers, 23, has played 79 games in seven seasons, including the losing 2012 Grand Final.
After snapping his anterior cruciate ligament in 2013 and missing the Hawks' premiership, Schoenmakers fought back this season to play 15 of the Hawks' final 16 games of the regular season before being left out for the finals.
