The rebel VFL teams for Round 6.

Essendon has regained experienced forward Christina Bernardi as it attempts to become the first team to sing the song on its 100th rebel VFLW match when it takes on Geelong at Deakin University on Saturday.

The Bombers will become the fifth club to reach the triple-figure in the rebel VFLW competition, boasting a win-loss-draw record of 51-44-4.

The previous four teams to reach the 100-game milestone – Darebin, Geelong, Box Hill Hawks and Collingwood – were all been beaten in their milestone matches.

Bernardi returns to the Bombers’ team alongside Scarlett Orritt, rookie Matilda O’Connell and North Melbourne recruit Marli Klaumanns-Moller, who will don the sash for the first time.

Impressive first-year player Maddie Albrecht is unwell and fullback Sophie Molan has a minor foot injury.

The Cats will have three players stepping out for the first time this season in Gabby Deller, Kate Martin and recruit Olivia Woods, who last played VFLW at North Melbourne in 2021, but lose Zoe Larkins to concussion.

Western Bulldogs have put their nine AFLW players in cotton wool for their trip to Box Hill City Oval to meet the Hawks on Saturday.

However that presents new opportunity, with former GWS Giants AFLW player Zara Hamilton and Aberfeldie teenager Hannah Brodie to make their VFLW debuts.

Montmorency’s Molly Bell will make her debut for Box Hill in place of Mia Zielinski.

Sandringham has received mixed news on the injury front ahead of its top of the table battle with Port Melbourne at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval on Sunday.

The Zebras have lost Emily Shepherd for the rest of the season with a knee injury in a horrible blow, the second player to go down this year after Emmilie Fiedler in Round 1, but Sophie Locke will make a return from an ankle injury.

The Borough will go in unchanged.

Star Collingwood recruit Lily-Rose Williamson returns to the team for the daunting clash with North Melbourne-Werribee at Victoria Park on Sunday.

Williamson missed last week’s thrilling win over the Hawks with illness and will be welcome inclusion, while the Kangaroos have recalled premiership players Matilda Zander and Brooke Slaney but lost Nic Hales and Taylor Ortlepp to illness and unavailability.

Darebin has recalled former North Melbourne co-captain Sarah King and defender Olivia Storer as it chases three consecutive wins against the winless Casey Demons at Genis Steel Oval on Saturday.

The Falcons will be without unavailable vice-captain Riley Christgoergl to face the Demons, who will take the same team that led Essendon until the dying minutes last week and fell short by a goal.

Carlton has suffered a blow to its finals hopes with Hannah Bowey ruled out for two months by a serious calf injury ahead of its must-win clash against Williamstown at Ikon Park on Sunday.

The Blues will unveil Sydney-sider Summer Hall, who played all five games in the Giants’ VFLW stint last year, and Ellie Sbeghen forces her way back in, while the Seagulls will be without injured centre half-forward Neve Crowley, recalling veteran ruck Cat O’Bryan and Ruby Mahony.
