Victoria Country and Victoria Metro have announced their squads for the 2025 Marsh AFL National Development Championships – U16 Boys.
The Championships feature a host of the best under-16 boys footballers from across the country, with 10 teams competing across two pools.
Victoria Country and Victoria Metro will both compete in Pool A alongside South Australia and Westen Australia. Victoria Country are the reigning title holders following last year’s thrilling Championships win, which was decided by the last kick of the carnival.
Pool B will comprise six teams, including the Brisbane Lions Academy, Gold Coast Suns Academy, GWS Giants Academy, Northern Territory, Sydney Swans Academy and Tasmania.
Victoria Country and Victoria Metro begin their campaigns when they meet at Werribee’s Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval over the Kings Birthday weekend.
The match will be on Monday, June 9 from 12:45pm AEST as part of a double-header, which will begin with a clash between Tasmania and Northern Territory from 10:15am.
The final two rounds of the Championships will be played on the Gold Coast from July 14 to 18 during the school holidays.
GWV Rebels boys coach David Loader will continue as head coach of Victoria Country, while Oakleigh Chargers head coach Ash Close will take the reins of Victoria Metro.
