CARLTON has been dealt a double blow with Charlie Curnow and Caleb Marchbank ruled out of Saturday night's clash against Adelaide with ankle injuries.

The pair both suffered mild ankle sprains at training this week, with the club confident they will only miss one game.

Curnow is enjoying a breakout season for the Blues, booting 10 goals form six matches including a five-goal haul against Richmond in the season opener.

Marchbank had only just returned to the side after he missed two weeks with an ankle injury following the round three loss to Collingwood.

"While unavoidable, these injuries are disappointing for Charlie, Caleb and the club as we prepare for our clash against Adelaide on Saturday night," head of football Andrew McKay said.

"Clearly it’s less than ideal to have a number of our players out injured at the moment, however we’re very hopeful both players will be available for our game next weekend against Essendon."

The winless Blues are confident of regaining star ruckman Matthew Kreuzer for the clash after missing the past two matches with a groin issue.
