The AFL is pleased to announce the umpiring panel for the 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final between the Geelong Cats and the Brisbane Lions at the MCG on Saturday, including two Grand Final debutants.
Simon Meredith will umpire his 10th AFL Grand Final alongside Hayden Meyer (second Grand Final), Jacob Mollinson (second Grand Final) and Andrew Stephens (first Grand Final) as the four field umpires. Nick Foot has been named as the emergency field umpire.
The four field umpires have officiated a total of 1,367 AFL games between them, including 96 AFL finals and 11 AFL Grand Finals.
Boundary umpires Matthew Konetschka (seventh Grand Final), Michael Barlow (fourth Grand Final) and Daniel Field-Read (second Grand Final) have been selected again this year after officiating last year’s decider, while Damian Main will make his Grand Final debut. Ian Burrows has been named as the emergency boundary umpire.
Goal umpires Adam Wojcik and Matthew Dervan will officiate their sixth and fourth AFL Grand Finals, respectively. Sam Walsh has been named as the emergency goal umpire.
AFL Executive General Manager Football Performance Greg Swann congratulated the umpires on their selection for the 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final.
“Andrew, Hayden, Simon and Jacob have done an outstanding job this season, and their selection for the 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final is a testament to this,” Swann said.
“I also want to congratulate the boundary and goal umpires selected and thank every single umpire who officiated an AFL game this season.
“From our umpires, timekeepers and interchange stewards to our shot clock operator, umpire trainers, match managers, ARC officials and ball stewards, the biggest game on the AFL calendar could not happen without them.”
