Dew was appointed Gold Coast's third senior coach on Wednesday night.
AFL.com.au understands Dew was rubberstamped by the Gold Coast board from a final shortlist of three.
Dew won the position from highly rated pair John Barker and Scott Burns, who each made it to the final interview stage.
