CONNOR Menadue won the Gatorade Grand Final Sprint at the MCG on Saturday, much to the delight of the Richmond faithful.

Carlton youngster Jarrod Pickett and Gold Coast co-captain Steven May started well but Menadue soon took the lead, and encouraged Tigers fans to voice their approval as he neared the finish line.

Pickett finished second, with May, Melbourne speedster Jayden Hunt and North Melbourne's Josh Williams in the battle for third.

Surprisingly, Hunt never threatened the lead.

Tigers fans were already in a good mood, with their side holding a nine-point lead at the main break over Adelaide.

Menadue started well to take out the race, with $5000 awarded to the charity Ladder.

Collingwood skipper Scott Pendlebury manned the gun to start the race.
