KEY POSITION pair Tom McDonald and Cam Pedersen trained strongly at Gosch's Paddock on Wednesday after both had shoulder operations at the end of last season.

The pair competed in marking contests and appeared to be unrestricted in their movement.

McDonald, 24, finished sixth in the club's best and fairest last year and signed a deal to keep him at the club until the end of 2018.

Pedersen is committed to the Demons for 2017 after managing nine games last year.

Hogan sticks to guns on kicking technique

Small forward Jeff Garlett was largely involved in running drills and continued when the rest of the team left the track, at which point Pedersen joined him.

The session ended with goalkicking practice, with Christian Petracca and Angus Brayshaw particularly vocal.

Jack Watts and James Harmes were also in on the fun, while gun midfielders Jack Viney, Nathan Jones and Jordan Lewis all looked in good condition.

Viney, the reigning club champion, returned to the main group last week for the first time this pre-season following hip surgery.
