The Victorian Football League has today announced a 40-player Smithy’s VFLW State Team squad for the clash against the SANFLW in Gather Round.

The Smithy’s VFLW State Team will represent the ‘Big V’ when it takes on the SANFLW State Team at Glenelg’s Stratarama Oval on Saturday, April 11.

The match will feature as part of a representative double-header, with the women’s game to be played from 12:00pm followed by the men’s game between the VFL and SANFL from 2:30pm.

The Smithy’s VFLW State Team will be looking to maintain its perfect record at representative level after last year downing the SANFLW by 27 points in their inaugural match at Alberton Oval.

The 40-player squad announced today features representatives from all 13 VFLW clubs.

It includes eight players who featured in last year’s team, including 2025 skipper Dom Carbone, Alana Barba, Lauren Caruso, El Chaston, Maddie Di Cosmo, Meg Macdonald, Stella Reid and Jaimi Tabb.

AFLW-listed players are not eligible to be selected, while players who are injured were not included in the initial squad.

Players can still be added from outside the squad of 40 when the final team to represent the Smithy’s VFLW State Team is announced during match week.

The 2026 Smithy’s VFL State Team squad will be announced following this weekend’s Round 2 matches.
