The Blues sent picks No.54 and No.63 to the Hawks in exchange for the 23-year-old and pick No.61.
They were in need of depth in the big man department after Andrew Phillips decided to take up an offer from Essendon, while they delisted Matthew Lobbe.

Pittonet's chances of cracking into the senior side became more unlikely when Jonathon Ceglar turned down interest from Brisbane and signed a three-year contract in September.
Ben McEvoy is also still on the list but the Hawks say they intend on continuing to play him in defence.

Pittonet has managed seven games throughout his career, with two coming this season.
He was drafted at pick No.50 in 2014.
Blues list boss Stephen Silvagni said Pittonet was a "great fit" for the club.
"Marc has a big physical presence and plays with real physicality and aggression, he is a great fit for us," Silvagni said.
"He is 23, has already been on an AFL list for five years and as a ruckman he is coming into his own.
"We look forward to Marc working with our ruck coach Hamish McIntosh as he adds some real strength to our ruck division."
