A total of nine players received their maiden All Australian blazers when the 2026 AFL All Australian Team was unveiled on Tuesday night at the AFL Awards presentation in Melbourne.

Wayne Milera, Logan Morris, Luke Jackson, Murphy Reid, Josh Treacy, Oliver Dempsey, Lachie Ash, Jarman Impey and Nick Watson were each selected in the final team of 23 for the first time in their careers.

Ten players retained their spots from the 2025 team – Jordan Clark, Harris Andrews, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, Bailey Smith, Jordan Dawson, Zac Bailey, Kysaiah Pickett, Max Gawn, Nick Daicos and Marcus Bontempelli.

Max Gawn, named as Captain, sets a new record in the competition’s history as he collected his ninth blazer marking the most ever in All Australian selection history.

This was followed by Marcus Bontempelli, who received All Australian honours for an eighth time to equal Gary Ablett Snr, Gary Ablett Jnr, Patrick Dangerfield, Lance Franklin, Robert Harvey and Mark Ricciuto.

Five Indigenous players have been named in the 2026 All Australian team, recognising their outstanding performances across the home and away season. The most recorded in any AFL All Australian team in history. The previous record for Indigenous players selected in the All Australian team was 4 players in 2006 Shaun Burgoyne, Lindsay Gilbee, Adam Goodes and Andrew McLeod.
