COLLINGWOOD young gun Ed Allan has signed a four-year contract extension after a breakout season in 2026.

The 22-year-old is now contracted at the KGM Centre through until he becomes a free agent in 2030.

The Magpies didn't present a contract offer until the start of August and started with two years, but are understood to have raised the offer to four more years in recent days.

Allan played 19 games this year after just 15 in his first three years after being selected at pick No.19 in the 2022 AFL Draft.

Collingwood coach Craig McRae used the midfielder as a tagger across the year, including on Zak Butters, Tim Taranto, Marcus Bontempelli, Noah Anderson, Isaac Heeney and Kysaiah Pickett.

Allan was selected in the first-round of the draft for a reason and showed his potential as a pure midfielder late in the season, with two important goals against Adelaide in round 20, 28 disposals against Hawthorn in round 23 and 23 and a goal in round 24 against Brisbane.

After adding two years to his initial contract before he had played a game to start his career, the West Australian has now signed for four more.

Collingwood announced six delistings last week with Lachie Sullivan, Joel Cochran, Wil Parker, Jakob Ryan, Iliro Smit and mid-season recruit Mitch Podhajski all not offered contracts for 2027.

Those changes were confirmed in the days after Steele Sidebottom retired following the wildcard final loss to the Western Bulldogs, before Scott Pendlebury announced his move to Gold Coast. 

With those two veterans departing the Magpies, Allan is set for a bigger role in Collingwood’s midfield next year.
