LACHIE Neale has likely played his last game for Brisbane, saying his eight years at the Lions have been the best of his life.

The dual Brownlow Medal winner capped a tumultuous week, and year, with his third premiership on Saturday.

The unrestricted free agent has been heavily linked to Collingwood for next season and conceded he has "probably" played his last game in Brisbane colours.

"We've still got a bit to work out, but I can't thank the club enough for the last eight years," Neale said inside the jubilant Lions rooms.

"It’s been the best eight years of my life. They’re an amazing club and I’m so lucky to be a part of it.

"It hasn't sunk in yet. I still very much feel like a Brisbane player and Brisbane person, and it doesn't feel real that this is probably the end of my time here.

"I just can't thank them enough. To achieve three premierships in a row in any era is an amazing achievement."

Neale has not only won three premierships and two Brownlows, but four best and fairests and four All-Australian jackets at the Lions to stamp himself as a club legend.

After standing down from the co-captaincy at the start of the year following the public breakdown of his marriage, Neale compiled another wonderful season for the Lions.

He played against Fremantle at the end of a dramatic week that saw his one-match suspension for a strike initially upheld by the Tribunal before being overturned by the Appeals Board on Thursday night.

"Unfortunately, I've had a bit of experience with compartmentalising things and just getting on with the job and this week was no different," he said.

"I've got great people around me who love me very much and I love them and they've supported me through the last 12 months and this week was no different.

"Danny Daly (Brisbane football manager) is an absolute champion. What he's done for me this year, but in particular this week, in supporting me and getting around me, I can't thank him enough. I love that bloke."

Neale said he "didn’t give a sh*t" about the constant booing from Dockers supporters, saying resilience had been a strength of his.

"On the field and off the field I try and live by that," he said.

"There are people doing it a lot worse than me. I've just won my third premiership with an amazing organisation. I can't really complain. 

"I've just got to get on with the job and get better as a human and a footballer."
