FREMANTLE has signed mature-age wingman Dominic Bedendo as a delisted free agent, with the former Western Bulldogs player joining the club on Wednesday on a two-year deal.

The Dockers moved quickly after trading winger Nathan O'Driscoll to Richmond on Tuesday, using the newly created list spot to add Bedendo and address a requirement for more wing depth.

The 24-year-old has spent the past two seasons with Port Melbourne in the VFL, impressing as a tall and athletic wingman after being delisted by the Bulldogs at the end of 2024.

"We’ve been watching Dom really closely since he returned to the VFL as a mature-age player," Fremantle list boss David Walls said.

"He's performed strongly as an athletic, hard-running winger. His size makes him an aerial threat and he also has good agility.

"The trade with Richmond for Nathan O’Driscoll gave us an additional draft selection.

"Rather than wait to see whether Dom would still be available in the Draft, we decided to secure him now as a delisted free agent. As a result, we haven’t had to use that pick.

"We're confident Dom adds to our wing stocks and depth, which we felt was important."

Fremantle has successfully targeted mature-age VFL players in recent seasons, adding Grand Final players Pat Voss, Corey Wagner and Oscar McDonald either as Supplemental Selection Period additions or late draft selections from the VFL.

Bedendo was originally recruited by the Bulldogs with pick No.55 in the 2020 National Draft, playing only two games due to a run of injuries in his four AFL seasons.

He was valued highly by the Bulldogs at the time, however, and praised upon his exit for making a "significantly positive impact" during his four years at the club.

He has evolved into a goalkicking wingman at Port Melbourne, using his aerial strength to advantage and kicking 35 goals across 2026, including a five-goal bag against North Melbourne.

The Dockers have this year used Wagner, Matthew Johnson, Neil Erasmus and O'Driscoll as wingmen, while Jeremy Sharp has played in the WAFL as an inside midfielder.

Jaren Carr has also emerged as a talented wingman at WAFL level and is out of contract, with the Dockers committing to re-list him with either a season list or rookie contract, depending on their other trade and draft moves.

Bedendo will start pre-season training next month with the Dockers, who have so far delisted Bailey Banfield, Ryda Luke, Ollie Murphy and Sam Sturt.

Forward Sam Switkowski has retired, with the club currently holding picks 17, 38, 58, 61, 76 and 94 in next month's Telstra AFL Draft.Â
