THE WESTERN Bulldogs have lodged free agency paperwork for Port Adelaide star Zak Butters, according to AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey.
As reported by AFL.com.au last month, Butters nominated the Bulldogs as his preferred home and his switch has taken another step forward.
The Power have three days to accept draft compensation, which would currently deliver pick No.5, or match the Bulldogs' offer and force a trade.
Port needs draft capital to match Essendon's expected pick No.1 bid on Port Academy prospect Dougie Cochrane and 2027 prospects Zemes Pilot and Louis Salopek.
