ADELAIDE is happy to target this year's draft in order to replenish its young talent pool before Tasmania's looming AFL entry, according to list boss Jarryd Roughead.

The Crows are prioritising that aspect of their list, rather than trying to lure talent from other clubs into West Lakes.

North Melbourne has interest in Crows key back Nick Murray, but things have not progressed at all on that front.

"It's been pretty quiet for us, we've just been sitting in our offices trying to work out where there could be opportunity elsewhere, but the Nick Murray one, nothing has changed from our point of view," Roughead told Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio.

"We haven't had any conversations since Monday… nothing has progressed.

"We've been pretty adamant that it'll be pretty hard for us to entertain something like this."

The Crows will pick up talks that will enable wantaway midfielder/forward Luke Pedlar to get to arch rival Port Adelaide now that there has been progress on the Zak Butters mega deal.

Sydney veteran Harry Cunningham will also join the club via next month's Telstra AFL Rookie Draft on a two-year contract that also involves a coaching component.

Roughead said the club was keen to add as much young talent to their list before the compromised drafts involving Tasmania.

"Just because we haven't been active this year, doesn't mean you don't look at the last few years and see what we've been able to do. We've brought in a number of guys and been quite active in the SSP space, it's our last chance to get some draft picks before the compromised drafts come in with Tasmania," he said.

"If we attack that and get some kids in that can bring some youth and enthusiasm to our group then that's great. We're chatting every day with Nicksy and the list management team as well as senior figures at the football club.

"We've been quite lucky with our injury list and we haven't really been able to see what we've got depth-wise on our list. We go into an off-season where we might not have anyone coming in of name, but that's not to say we can't improve."

Former Sandringham Dragons duo Archie Ludowyke and Charlie Edwards, as well as youngsters Oscar Ryan and Billy Dowling are just some of the names who could take their game to the next level in 2027, while Sid Draper is another who will be hoping to break into the senior side.

Roughead believes that having those up and coming players continue to drive the standards will only be a good thing as they put pressure on those currently in the senior team from a selection point of view.

The Crows have pursued the likes of Zac Bailey and Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera in recent years and are likely to continue to be in the market for free agents moving forward.

Two names in particular who could pique the Crows' interest are Hawthorn's Will Day and St Kilda's Wanganeen-Milera again.

"You're trying to improve all the time, we were out there this year trying to be active in the free agency space and I don't think it'll be any different moving forward with who's going to be available over the next couple of years," Roughead said.

The Crows are excited by the talent available at the pointy end of the draft this year and will continue to look at ways in which they can improve their draft hand.

"You're going to get someone really, really good. There's the boys at the top and then from about pick 6, 7 onwards, there's a number of players that would be in that 6-20 range and even deeper again," Roughead said.

"Hopefully we can get as high as we can with other assets that we have and hopefully we can bring in a couple of kids around that mark and really look to improve our list before Tasmania comes in."

So, could the Crows look to move up the order?

"Potentially. We're trying to come up with different scenarios where we think it could benefit us and other teams, other teams have their priorities too. We'll try, but that doesn't mean that we'll get things done."
