FREMANTLE is close to finalising a pair of coaching appointments after losing key assistant Jaymie Graham, with former Docker Tendai Mzungu set to earn promotion to a line coaching role in 2027.Â
AFL.com.au also understands the Dockers are close to securing triple premiership Richmond player Nathan Broad as a development coach as it looks to fill three off-field roles in its coaching team.Â
As well as Graham, who led Fremantle's forward line before his appointment as North Melbourne senior coach, the Dockers have lost midfield development coach Todd Curley and Peel Thunder WAFL coach Adam Read. Â
Curley has joined WAFL club West Perth as its senior coach while Read was targeted by Greater Western Sydney to join Adam Kingsley's team as senior assistant.Â
Mzungu played 106 games for Fremantle, including the 2013 Grand Final, and has been a development coach with the Dockers since 2021, working closely with Fremantle's defenders in recent seasons under line coach Jade Rawlings.Â
It is not yet clear if the 40-year-old will take over the forward line from Graham, or if the club will look to reassign roles in its coaching team.Â
Broad, meanwhile, is set to make an immediate move into coaching after returning home to Western Australia for family reasons.Â
The three-time premiership hero initially flagged his interest in continuing his 191-game playing career with either the Dockers or West Coast but was targeted by Freo to fill one of its coaching vacancies.Â
Broad, 33, represented Western Australia in this year AFL Origin clash where he linked up with Longmuir who was supporting coach Dean Cox as an assistant.Â
As well as Mzungu and Rawlings, Fremantle's coaching team includes midfield coach Joel Corey, stoppages coach Harry Garland, and ruck coach Sam Naismith.Â
Broad would join a development program led by Geoff Valentine and with former Docker Chris Mayne working with the club's young forwards, while Andrew Sturgess is the club's opposition strategy and leadership coach.Â
