The AFL is pleased to confirm the 2027 AAMI AFL Origin match will be held in Perth on Saturday, February 27. The match will begin at 4:40pm AWST.
Western Australia will take on South Australia at Optus Stadium, almost 30 years since the states last battled in elite level State of Origin football.
In 2026, the state-based rivalry returned for the first time since 1999 when Western Australia hosted Victoria in front of more than 58,000 fans at a sold-out Optus Stadium.
The 2027 AAMI AFL Origin match will mark 50 years since the first Australian Rules Football State of Origin match, which was played at Subiaco Oval between Western Australia and Victoria in 1977, next year also marks 150 years of the SANFL.
AAMI AFL Origin will be delivered with the support of the Western Australian Government, through Tourism WA, and showcase the best of the state to fans all over the country.

The Rivalry – Western Australia v South Australia
Western Australia and South Australia have a fierce rivalry at interstate level that began in 1904, with the first-ever meeting between the two states. WA and SA met regularly through the 1980s when state football pride was at its peak and this will be the first meeting of the two states under the full State of Origin rules since 1998.
