ST KILDA is set to drop star forward Jesse Tawhiao-Wardlaw and young teammate Maya Louvel-Finn for its upcoming AFLW clash against Brisbane due to issues relating to standards after its game last weekend.

It's understood neither player has been dropped due to form or fitness, but having failed to meet deadlines on mandatory tasks required of every member of the playing group after all matches.

The significant selection calls are not understood to be due to poor behaviour or discipline from either player, but as a standard-setting measure under the watch of interim coach Matt Brewer.

Tawhiao-Wardlaw is one of St Kilda's best players and competed strongly during last weekend's defeat to Fremantle, having previously kicked seven goals from her last three games.

Meanwhile, Louvel-Finn has otherwise enjoyed a breakout debut season at the Saints and has featured in eight senior games since arriving at the club as the No.60 pick in last year's draft.

St Kilda is in the midst of a disappointing 1-9 season and sits on the bottom of the ladder, leading to the club parting ways with long-time coach Nick Dal Santo earlier this month.

Dal Santo's abrupt departure meant Brewer, previously the side's first-year senior assistant, will take the reins as the club's interim coach across its final three games of the campaign.

St Kilda plays Brisbane at RSEA Park on Saturday.
