THE NAB AFLW qualifying final between Geelong and Melbourne has been delayed by at least 10 minutes due to lightning in the vicinity of Ikon Park.

The match was scheduled for a 1.05pm AEDT start, but teams have retreated to their change room. The match is now scheduled for a 1.15pm start.

Banners have also been removed from the ground.

The second game of the double-header, between North Melbourne and Carlton, will start as scheduled at 4.05pm AEDT, barring any further delays.

The AFL lightning guidelines come into play when lightning is detected within a 10km radius of the ground.
