CANADIAN rocker Bryan Adams has been announced as the headline act for this year's AFL Grand Final entertainment.
The Summer of '69 singer was confirmed on Monday as the key plank of the Virgin Australia Pre-Game Show alongside English singer Ellie Goulding.
Adams, whose hits also include I Do It For You, Run To You and Heaven, will take to the MCG's stage before the game and both artists will also play an encore show on the ground at the post-game party.
Goulding caters for a different market, with her hit song Love Me Like You Do making her a popular worldwide artist.
AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan also announced a third act as part of the Grand Final entertainment, with American singer Chris Isaak to play pre-match.
Isaak is best known for hit songs Wicked Game and Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing, and is in Australia as a new judge on the X Factor talent show.
The Brownlow Medal will also have special entertainment, with English singer James Blunt to perform on the night.
McLachlan said he and his family were thrilled at the entertainment choices.
"I spoke to my daughters. They chose Ellie Goulding," McLachlan said.
"Bryan Adams' Summer of 69 is a personal favourite.
"They're both big international artists. They cater for a broad audience that is the Grand Final audience and we're lucky to have them. It'll be a great day."
Adams, whose career has spanned more than four decades, is travelling to Australia to specially perform at the 2015 Toyota AFL Grand Final.
"Australian music fans are amazing and being at the AFL Grand Final with sports fans will be an event to remember," Adams said.
English singer and songwriter Goulding, whose debut album Lights skyrocketed her to the top of the UK album charts in 2010, has consistently produced hit single after hit single since.
"I love coming to Australia and am excited to be able to be a small part in one of Australia's greatest days in sport," Goulding said.
Adams and Goulding will also play at the Virgin Australia Premiership Party, in a free concert for fans after the Grand Final.
McLachlan said the artists due to perform on the 2015 Toyota AFL Grand Final had been purposely selected to entertain football fans of all ages.
"The AFL Grand Final is the pinnacle for fans and players alike and as such the calibre of the international acts performing equates to the stature of the event," McLachlan said.
Virgin Australia spokesman Michael Scott said the airline appreciated the significance of building a buzz at the MCG for the AFL's showcase event.
"The Virgin brand has its origins in entertainment and we know how important good atmosphere is on Grand Final day," Scott said.
"As the official airline of the AFL we are thrilled to be able to entertain fans at the 2015 Toyota AFL Grand Final with the Virgin Australia Pre-Game Show and Virgin Australia Premiership Party.
"We are committed to providing the best possible travel experience for those flying in for the Grand Final and look forward to sharing the excitement with those fans on the day."
