COLLINGWOOD midfielder Tim Broomhead will miss the next six weeks after suffering an undisplaced crack in his shoulder against Port Adelaide on Thursday night.

The 21-year-old has been a good performer this season and his goalscoring ability was missed in the final quarter against the Power when he was subbed from the ground.

Collingwood football director Neil Balme told the club website the injury was worse than first thought and was a blow for Broomhead, who has played 11 games this season after eight in 2014.

"It's very disappointing for Tim but hopefully he will be back before the end of the season," Balme said.

Meanwhile the Magpies had better news in relation to Tyson Goldsack, who has missed the past two games with knee tendinitis.

While the Magpies remain slightly uncertain about whether he will return, Balme was optimistic.

"He is a lot better this week and is a fair chance of playing this weekend," Balme said.

Unlucky defender Ben Reid is also expected to resume in the VFL after suffering a slight strain in his calf that has kept him sidelined for the past fortnight.
