CARLTON defender Simon White will miss four to six weeks with a left knee injury.

The 26-year-old was subbed out halfway through the first term of his side's 69-point loss to West Coast at Domain Stadium on Friday night.

Carlton confirmed White had sprained the medial ligament in his knee on Sunday evening.

White joins midfielder Dale Thomas on the Blues' injury list, with the ex-Magpie sidelined for six weeks after dislocating his shoulder in the first minute of the team's season-opening clash against Richmond.

Blues defender Kristian Jaksch is also expected to miss next Saturday's clash against Essendon after breaking two ribs in round one.
