ADELAIDE midfielder Richard Douglas will not play against Richmond on Friday night after undergoing emergency surgery to remove his appendix.

The 28-year-old gathered 22 possessions against the Sydney Swans last Saturday night, but was rushed to hospital on Monday evening suffering appendicitis.

Doc Larkins' injury report

Surgeons removed Douglas’ inflamed appendix, ruling him out of the club's crucial encounter with the Tigers at Adelaide Oval on Friday night.

It's a cruel blow for the Crows, who will miss Douglas' running game.

They won contested possession against the Swans but were unable to generate enough quality outside in the 52-point loss.
