THE WESTERN Bulldogs could regain premierships stars Tom Boyd, Dale Morris and Clay Smith for Sunday's clash with Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

Boyd (back) and Morris (sindesmosis ankle sprain) missed last week's loss to Sydney, while Smith injured his calf in the lead-up to the round 10 clash with St Kilda.

Bulldogs medical services manager Chris Bell said the trio were realistic chances to face the Demons.

"Tom had a back spasm in the days leading up to the Sydney game. Since the weekend Tom has continued to make improvements with his back pain and we’ll monitor him over the next couple of days to make a decision on his availability," Bell said.

"We’re putting Dale through a process, he’s completed some modified training already and if he completes that training session on Thursday he’ll come back in line to availability this week."

Bell said skipper Robert Murphy would be "two or three weeks" away from returning from a hamstring injury.

Draftee Fergus Greene is expected to spend the next 6-8 weeks on the sidelines after fracturing a bone in his wrist in the VFL at the weekend.

Rookie Josh Prudden is a chance to return from a hamstring injury for Footscray's clash with the Casey Demons on Saturday.
