GOLD Coast midfielder David Swallow is in some doubt for next week's clash with Melbourne after he was concussed by a heavy Patrick Cripps tackle during the loss to Carlton on Saturday night.

Swallow copped the full weight of the Carlton midfielder after disposing of the ball and had to be helped off by a number of Suns trainers.

Play had to be momentarily stopped while a groggy Swallow was helped from the field.

He looked to be resisting the attempts of Suns trainers, but was taken down the players' race and straight to the rooms before being taken out of the game at half-time.

The tackle, which looked innocuous, is still likely to be looked at by Match Review Officer Michael Christian, leaving one of the Brownlow Medal favourites with a nervous wait.
