DOMINATING games has been the norm for Melbourne ruckman Max Gawn in 2018, but the Schick AFL Player Ratings suggest that may not happen against Hawthorn on Friday night at the MCG.

While Gawn is ranked No.11 in the competition, his Hawks counterpart Ben McEvoy isn't far behind, at No.13.

The player ratings are measured by Champion Data and take into account an individual's past 40 games over a rolling two-year period, with greater weighting given to more recent matches.

McEvoy's rating is boosted by an excellent 2017, when he was the best kick of any ruckmen in the AFL.

Meanwhile, Gawn has been outstanding this season and won the AFL Coaches' Association Player of the Year award.
