FREMANTLE has placed Stephen Hill onto a modified pre-season training program and will seek specialist advice on the prime mover continuing to experience soreness in his troublesome quad.

Hill was restricted to just 13 games in 2018 after repeat issues with his quad, first with his left quad and then his right.

Dockers director of football Peter Bell said the club's medical staff were exploring different options in treating Hill's injury with the star Docker experiencing discomfort when kicking.

"Options to rectify the issue are being considered by our medical team, with Stephen on a modified program until a preferred solution is decided on," Bell told the club's website..

The 28-year-old, who shifted to half-back at times last season, suffered a grade one tear in his right quad muscle against North Melbourne in round 10 with the injury sidelining him for two matches.

Hill also missed round one last season with a calf injury, and missed rounds eight and nine with the left quad complaint, while he also did not play the final three games of the season

Hill averaged 18.4 disposals in 2018, the lowest output of his career since 2012.
