THE WESTERN Bulldogs will blood two debutants in Sunday's clash against Carlton at Etihad Stadium.

Mature-age midfielder Will Hayes and rookie defender Lachie Young will both make their first appearance for the club.

Coach Luke Beveridge told the playing group after training on Thursday.

Hayes, who is the son of champion horse trainer David Hayes, was selected with pick No.78 in last year's NAB AFL Draft.

David Hayes is one of the most successful horse trainers in the world with a total of 92 Group One winners, including wins in the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate and Golden Slipper. 

Will Hayes, 23, starred for Footscray in the VFL last season, winning the best and fairest award.

Nineteen-year-old Young is a rebounding defender who was taken with pick No.6 in the Rookie Draft.

He has already impressed in his little time at the club, recently signing a one-year contract extension with the club.

The Dogs will release their 26-man squad later on Thursday.
