FEROCIOUS Melbourne co-captain Jack Viney will play in the Demons' crunch Anzac Day Eve clash with Richmond on Wednesday after the onballer was cleared of a hand injury.

Viney went in for scans on Sunday morning, sparking fears he might miss the meeting with the Tigers.

His absence would have been sorely felt, considering the Dees are coming off a 40-point loss to St Kilda and are languishing in 17th spot.

However, a club spokesman confirmed the 25-year-old will take to the MCG in round six, despite his side's shortened four-day break.

Viney is averaging 19 disposals and seven tackles per game in 2019.

After making a preliminary final last year, Melbourne has started the season 1-4 and has struggled to recapture its best form.
