SCANS have confirmed Richmond star forward Jack Riewoldt suffered a high-grade PCL tear in the club's win over Melbourne on Wednesday night and he is now set for 6-8 weeks on the sidelines.

Riewoldt landed awkwardly in a marking contest and went straight down to the rooms for assessment.

The good news for Richmond fans is that the injury will not require surgery.

Riewoldt already missed three games earlier this year after suffering a wrist injury against Collingwood in round two.
