HE IS not playing in this year's NAB AFL Under-16s Championships, but Collingwood father-son prospect Nick Daicos is already catching the eye.

Daicos, the son of Pies legend Peter, is not eligible for the draft until 2021.

However, his form at school level for Carey Grammar has attracted attention, with the talented youngster shaping as a quality option for the Pies in two years.

Last weekend Daicos played across half-back but also went forward to kick two skillful goals for his side in the APS competition, one a left-foot snap from the pocket and the other a running goal on his preferred right foot.

He is not yet a part of the Oakleigh Chargers' program in the NAB League after a conscious decision from his family, so has not featured in Vic Metro's under-16 carnival side.

Recruiters believe he would fit into the Metro line-up if he had been a part of the pathway.

ROAD TO THE DRAFT Who's leading the race to be the No.1?

Daicos is expected to join the Chargers program before his draft season, but he is already exposed to a strong level of development through the Collingwood father-son academy, which is named after his father, who kicked 549 goals from 250 games for the Pies, including playing in its 1990 flag.

Adding another Daicos to the list would continue Collingwood's strong run of father-son recruits in recent years.

Last year the Pies drafted Will Kelly (the son of former defender Craig), and across the 2016-17 drafts the club picked up Callum and Tyler Brown, the sons of former skipper Gavin.

Darcy Moore, who is developing into one of the leading key defenders in the game, was also selected under the rule with pick No.9 in 2014.
