Star Saint returns to club after mental health break

Extra venom as Shaw brothers face off, star Saint returns Nat Edwards with all the latest footy news

FOUR-TIME St Kilda best and fairest Jack Steven returned to the club at Tuesday's training session.

Completing a light jog at RSEA Park, it was his first time back since taking an indefinite break in early May to deal with a mental health battle

The Saints have placed no expectations upon the 29-year-old for when he takes to the field again.

In late February, Steven stepped away from the Saints to deal with his issue but came back for the opening two matches of 2019.

He then missed the following fortnight but played the subsequent two games, for a total of four this season.

It adds to the good news at Moorabbin, with Dan Hannebery requiring one more VFL outing before coming into contention for senior selection and Jake Carlisle closing in on a comeback from back surgery via Sandringham.
