HAWTHORN'S Daniel Howe is set to come under the Match Review Officer's scrutiny after he appeared to knee Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury in the head during the second term at the MCG

Pendlebury and Howe were tangling on the ground after a holding-the-ball free kick had been paid to Hawthorn's Jarman Impey for an earlier tackle, when Howe raised his knee and caught the Magpie skipper on the side of the head.

Pendlebury recoiled upon contact before being dragged away by one of Howe's Hawk teammates.

The Magpies led by eight points at half-time after a scrappy opening two quarters. Hawthorn had enjoyed most of the attacking play in the second term but squandered several chances with a wasteful 3.8.
