AFL Statement

The AFL advises the Match Review of the remaining games from Saturday and Sunday of Round 16 have now been completed. The following charges have been laid with one other incident requiring detailed explanation.

Charges Laid:
Shaun McKernan, Essendon, has been charged with Striking Jordan Dawson, Sydney Swans, during the fourth quarter of the Round 16 match between Essendon and the Sydney Swans, played at the MCG on Saturday July 6.

Incidents assessed:
Contact between Gold Coast SUNS’ Pearce Hanley and Richmond’s Kane Lambert from the fourth quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Richmond’s Daniel Rioli handballs the ball to Lambert. Lambert leaves the ground to take possession of the ball and is met by Hanley who makes body contact. It was the view of the MRO that Hanley’s actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances. No further action was taken.
