Match Review Officer's full statement: W2 finals

The AFL advises the Match Review of Saturday night's semi-final match between the Brisbane Lions and the GWS Giants has now been completed. The following charges have been laid.

Charges Laid:

Charlie Cameron, Brisbane Lions, has been charged with engaging in Rough Conduct against Zac Williams, GWS GIANTS, during the second quarter of the Semi Final match between the Brisbane Lions and the GWS GIANTS, played at The Gabba on Saturday September 14.

In summary he can accept a $2000 sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as Carless Conduct, Low Impact and High Contact. The incident was classified as a $3000 sanction as a first offence. The player can accept a $2000 sanction with an early plea. 

Toby Greene, GWS GIANTS, has been charged with making Unreasonable or Unnecessary Contact to the Eye Region of Lachie Neale, Brisbane Lions, during the second quarter of the Semi Final match between the Brisbane Lions and the GWS GIANTS, played at The Gabba on Saturday September 14.

In summary he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as Intentional Conduct with Low Impact and High Contact. The incident was classified as a one-match sanction.

Dayne Zorko, Brisbane Lions, has been charged with Striking (Fixed Financial Sanction) Shane Mumford, GWS GIANTS, during the second quarter of the Semi Final match between the Brisbane Lions and the GWS GIANTS, played at The Gabba on Saturday September 14.

Incident explained:
Contact between Geelong Cats’ Tom Stewart and West Coast Eagles’ Elliot Yeo from the fourth quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. The ball is loose on the wing. Stewart and Yeo seek to contest the ball and in the process Stewart makes careless high contact to Yeo. It was the view of the MRO that there was insufficient force to constitute a Reportable Offence. No further action was taken.
