THE FLURRY of activity at St Kilda ahead of next month's AFL Trade Period could include a move for Port Adelaide forward Sam Gray.

AFL.com.au understands St Kilda officials met with Gray in South Australia recently, with the clever goalkicker's future destined to be away from Port Adelaide after he informed the club of his desire to seek more long-term security elsewhere last month.

Carlton and the Western Bulldogs are also among the host of clubs to have already signalled their interest in the experienced forward.

Gray is close with former Port Adelaide assistant Brendon Lade, who is now the forwards coach at St Kilda, while he would complement a developing attacking unit at Moorabbin that already features Matthew Parker, Ben Long and Jack Lonie.

Gray could add to a host of exciting off-season additions at St Kilda, with the 27-year-old a chance to follow Port Adelaide teammate Paddy Ryder to the club after the veteran ruckman officially requested a trade to the Saints earlier this week.
