INJURED Adelaide defender Brent Reilly has spoken publicly for the first time about the training accident that left him in intensive care with a fractured skull.
Reilly collided with a teammate at training on February 9 and was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he underwent surgery to insert a steel plate into his skull.
Speaking to the club's website from his couch at home the 31-year-old thanked the football community for their support.
But he shed no light on a possible return to the game, saying his energy remained focused on his recovery from the accident.
"At the moment my health and my fitness is more important than thinking about football so, as I said, I'm down at the club helping the boys out but at the same time I've got to look after myself," Reilly said.
"I've been doing a lot of rehab with some doctors and a neuropsychologist.
I've also got a speech therapist that comes around twice a week.
"I'm showing some good signs. I'm on the mend and I'm just looking forward to getting 100 per cent fit again."
Reilly has played 203 games for the Crows but falls out of contract at season's end.
