- Eagles lose Scott Selwood to injury, first-round pick to debut
- Swans bring back co-captain Jarrad McVeigh
- Magpies pick Steele Sidebottom replacement

WEST Coast vice-captain Scott Selwood will miss Friday night's game against Carlton with an ankle injury, but the Sydney Swans will be bolstered for their clash against Port Adelaide by co-captain Jarrad McVeigh's return from a calf injury.

Earlier on Thursday, Geelong coach Chris Scott announced star midfielder Steven Motlop would miss Sunday's clash against Fremantle after failing to meet the club's off-field standards.

Other big names to return this round include Hawthorn playmaker Grant Birchall and Gold Coast spearhead Tom Lynch.

Recap: The Traders answer your questions ahead of round two

Former Saints Rhys Stanley and James Gwilt could make their debuts for their new clubs, with Stanley named in the Cats' extended squad and Gwilt in the Bombers' squad for their game against Hawthorn on Sunday.

North Melbourne has so far resisted the temptation to make wholesale changes ahead of its clash against the Brisbane Lions on Sunday, with Ben Jacobs the only omission at this stage.

The Roos have brought Robbie Nahas, Robbie Tarrant, Ben Brown and Mason Wood into their extended squad.

The Lions will take on the Roos without skipper Tom Rockliff (ribs) and veteran defender Daniel Merrett (hamstring), and have brought Matt Maguire, Mitch Golby, Michael Close, Tom Cutler and Zac O'Brien into their 25.

Jason Tutt is set to make his debut for Carlton as the Blues called up the former Western Bulldog and spearhead Levi Casboult to replace Dale Thomas (shoulder) and Kristian Jaksch (ribs).

The injury-hit Eagles will unveil their first pick in last year's national draft, Liam Duggan, as part of four inclusions, with Will Schofield, Jamie Bennell and Simon Tunbridge also coming back into the team.

West Coast have lost Selwood, Mitch Brown (knee) and Sam Butler (adductor) to injury and dropped 2014 draftee Tom Lamb.

Geelong has included Andrew Mackie, Stanley, George Horlin-Smith and Jordan Murdoch in its squad for its home clash against Fremantle.

The Dockers have made no omissions from the team that defeated Port Adelaide last Sunday, adding Tendai Mzungu, Hayden Crozier and Matt Taberner to their squad.

Like Gwilt, former Crow Shaun McKernan could make his club debut for Essendon against Hawthorn on Sunday, with the Bombers also adding Courtenay Dempsey, Jason Ashby and Lauchlan Dalgleish to their squad.

Liam Shiels (hamstring) is the only Hawks player to go out of the team that smashed Geelong on Easter Monday.

Former Giant Jono O'Rourke could make his club debut and James Sicily could make his AFL debut after being named in the Hawks' squad, along with Birchall and Ryan Schoenmakers.

Port Adelaide ruckman Jarrad Redden is set to play his first game since round 10, 2013, after he replaced John Butcher (omitted) in the Power's team for the blockbuster clash against the Swans at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

McVeigh replaces Harry Cunningham (omitted) in the only change for the Swans after their comeback round one win over Essendon.

Gold Coast has dropped Trent McKenzie and Daniel Gorringe after its disappointing loss to Melbourne last Saturday, with Matt Shaw also set to miss Saturday night's game against St Kilda through suspension.

The Suns regain Lynch, Seb Tape and Sean Lemmens for the clash at Metricon Stadium, while the Saints named Tom Billings and Tom Curren in place of Leigh Montagna (knee) and Eli Templeton (omitted).

Richmond has made just one forced change after its round one win over Carlton, with Kane Lambert replacing Brett Deledio (suspended), with their opponent on Saturday, the Western Bulldogs, omitting Jack Redpath for Ayce Cordy.

Collingwood has dropped its first pick in last year's draft, Jordan De Goey, after its win over the Brisbane Lions last Saturday night and will also be without Steele Sidebottom (hand) for Saturday's encounter with Adelaide.

The Pies have recalled Tim Broomhead and Paul Seedsman, while the Crows have made just one change after their imposing win over North Melbourne, bringing in Mitch Grigg for Jarryd Lyons (omitted).

Melbourne has made room for Chris Dawes and Bernie Vince after its impressive win over Gold Coast, dropping Jimmy Toumpas and Jay Kennedy-Harris for its clash against Greater Western Sydney this Saturday.

The Giants dropped Curtly Hampton for Nathan Wilson.
