AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan has released the following statement as bushfires continue to impact thousands of people in communities across Australia:
"Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by the bushfire crisis along with the firefighters, emergency services and the thousands of volunteers who are working around the clock to protect and support so many of our communities across Australia.
"The AFL is currently working with Clubs, state bodies and our corporate partners on a coordinated response to support fundraising for those communities impacted, and ensure we acknowledge and support the work of the firefighters, emergency services and volunteers who have selflessly sought to protect and provide for tens of thousands of people.
"We will be in a position to make a further announcement over the coming days.
"To everyone - please stay safe and look out for each other during this difficult time."
