Five Geelong players and five Dockers face melee charges at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night, after being booked following an investigation of Saturday's match at Skilled Stadium.

Cats Steve Johnson, Joel Corey, James Bartel - who must also defend separate striking and rough play charges - Josh Hunt, Paul Koulouriotis and Fremantle's Byron Schammer, Aaron Sandilands, Shaun McManus, Steven Dodd and Matthew Pavlich will each be called to explain their actions in the fourth quarter incident.

AFL investigations officer Rick Lewis laid the reports following the review of the weekend's matches.

Swan Barry Hall is up on a rough play charge against Demon Alistair Nicholson, while Bartel was booked for rough play against Troy Longmuir in the first quarter and striking Dylan Smith in the last term.
