NORTH Melbourne skipper Jack Ziebell will play in the club's final Marsh Community Series hitout against Sydney on Monday, with the hard-nosed midfielder set to press his claim for round one selection following a summer plagued by a troublesome calf injury.

MARSH TEAMS Big eagle, speedy Pie, homesick Don

Ziebell was limited to restricted duties at training on either side of Christmas due to the lingering calf complaint and missed the side's opening pre-season fixture against the Western Bulldogs – a heavy 44-point defeat at Marvel Stadium – a fortnight ago.

However, his availability will provide the Kangaroos with a huge boost on the eve of the campaign, named among five key inclusions for the clash against the Swans in Hobart.

Jared Polec and Robbie Tarrant have also been named to play, despite battling respective foot injuries over the summer, while Shaun Higgins returns from State of Origin duty.

Sydney will also be bolstered by the return of Isaac Heeney, with the promising young midfielder recovering from a summer thumb injury to feature a fortnight before round one.

The Swans will also have Callum Mills, Jake Lloyd and Tom Papley available to play, with the important trio returning to the squad after playing in last week's State of Origin match.

Marley Williams is suspended for North Melbourne, while Kayne Turner will miss an extended period due to a foot injury. Bailey Scott and Dom Tyson have been omitted.

Michael Knoll and Sam Wicks are Sydney's only omitted players for the contest.
