STAR forward Jake Stringer and Irishman Conor McKenna are late withdrawals for Essendon's Marsh Community Series clash with Geelong in Colac.
Stringer will sit out due to personal reasons after also missing the Bombers' first pre-season match against West Coast.
McKenna, who returned home last month due to homesickness, will also have to push his case for the Bombers' season opener against Fremantle without an AFL practice match.
After being touted as a forward earlier in the summer, McKenna played in defence as the Bombers' VFL line-up defeated the Cats by five points.
He was joined in the VFL by Tom Cutler who featured in the second half, but has been scheduled to also play a half in the AFL match.
McKenna's omission will see the Bombers take 25 players (seven on the bench) into the main match.
The Cats have decided to stick with the eight players named on their bench and will play with 26.
Sam Menegola, Mark O'Connor, Luke Dahlhaus, Jack Steven, Jack Henry and Brandan Parfitt will play their first matches of the pre-season after missing the week one loss to Gold Coast.
Cutler, Adam Saad, Mason Redman and Jake Stringer will play for the Bombers after sitting out the opening clash against West Coast.
