Where and when: Metricon Stadium, Saturday March 21, 6.40pm AEST

Last time they met: Adelaide Oval, round 9, 2019: Port Adelaide 13.11 (89) beat Gold Coast 7.9 (51)

What it means for Gold Coast: A chance to kick season number three under Stuart Dew off with a bang. The Suns were impressive during the Marsh Community Series with wins over Geelong and Adelaide and with a team fresh full of new faces there's genuine optimism at Carrara.

What it means for Port Adelaide: There's no mincing words at Port in 2020, this is a make-or-break season for coach Ken Hinkley, and his team would expect nothing short of four premiership points against the battling Suns.

The stat: Port Adelaide has won 10 of 11 contests between the clubs, with Gold Coast's only victory being its historic first-ever as a club in 2011. Port has won the past 10 games by an average of 44 points.

The match-up: Jack Bowes v Robbie Gray

With a few disruptions to its half-back line, Gold Coast has groomed fourth-year midfielder Bowes to the new role. After keeping Gary Ablett quiet in a pre-season game, Bowes is a good candidate to line-up on Port matchwinner Gray.

It’s a big week for: Brandon Ellis

After 176 games and two premierships in eight seasons for Richmond, Brandon Ellis will play his first game in Gold Coast colours. His last match was the Grand Final in front of 100,014 spectators – a vast difference to an empty Metricon Stadium.

Big call: Matt Rowell to start his career with a bang – 25 disposals, one goal and the NAB AFL Rising Star nomination.

Prediction: Port Adelaide by 10 points
