IT'S THE pivotal duel between two versatile key-position players that could determine whether West Coast or Melbourne advance to the Grand Final.

The No.21 ranked player in the competition, Eagle Jeremy McGovern, will likely spend plenty of time manning the AFL's No.32, Demon Tom McDonald.

SCHICK AFL PLAYER RATINGS: Who are your club's leaders?

Those standings are based on the Schick AFL Player Ratings, which are calculated by Champion Data and take into account an individual's past 40 games over a rolling two-year period.

Both are outstanding in the air – McGovern averages more contested marks than anyone else this season while McDonald is fourth for marks inside-50 per match.

A foot issue forced the Dee to miss the opening five rounds of the season but he's since kicked 53 goals, including four last week against Hawthorn.

Meanwhile, McGovern was named in the Virgin Australia All Australian side for the third straight year.
