CARLTON has revealed that Mitch Robinson suffered a fractured eye socket in the scuffle that also involved his teammate Jeff Garlett in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Earlier this week, the Blues announced that they had handed Garlett a one-match suspension and fined him $2500.
Now the club has come forward with the revelation that Robinson will be sidelined for up to a month with a facial fracture.
Robinson has been fined $5000 by the club.
Neither Robinson nor Garlett have been charged over the fracas, which took place in central Melbourne at around 5am. Garlett was also injured and taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital with a cut to his head.
As he is serving a two-week suspension, it is understood Robinson's involvement and injury came to light later than Garlett's.
"It's disappointing it has come to light that both players were out in the early hours of Sunday morning," Carlton football manager Andrew McKay said.
"Had they not put themselves in that position, then the incident could have been avoided.
"It should serve as a warning to all our players that they need to take responsibility for their behaviour and the situations they put themselves in. As professional athletes, we expect them to lead by example.
"This type of behaviour will not be tolerated at our football club."
Carlton coach Mick Malthouse addressed the troubled night out on Wednesday.
He reprimanded Garlett, saying he did not "have enough points up to walk into the side".
"We don't say 'don't go around until 5am', but we say 'be sensible'," Malthouse said.
"Jeff now understands that that's totally unacceptable."
Robinson's suspension, for a late bump on North Melbourne forward Leigh Adams in round 18, means he is unlikely to play again in 2014.
