NORTH Melbourne forward Majak Daw has suffered a serious lower leg injury in the VFL on Sunday.

Playing for Werribee, Daw was stretchered from the ground and taken to Epworth Hospital for scans.

It is understood Daw may have sustained a dislocated ankle or break to his lower leg and it appears likely his season is over.

North Melbourne confirmed the ruck/forward was "being assessed for a serious leg injury."

Meanwhile, star Kangaroos midfielder Daniel Wells has escaped serious injury after being kicked in the shin in his comeback from a long-term foot problem.

Wells sent shivers through the Roos' camp when he was taken to the North Ballarat rooms in the third quarter.

The star midfielder is understood to have escaped serious injury and should be available for selection next weekend.

Wells collected nine touches to half-time and played no further part after coming from the field in the third term.
