AHMED Saad, the former St Kilda footballer who was suspended for taking a banned substance, is expected to to have his career revived on Wednesday in the NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

Saad, along with delisted Crows Shaun McKernan and Jared Petrenko, and delisted Blue Kane Lucas, are just some of the familiar names searching for an AFL lifeline.

Many clubs have already committed to redrafting senior-listed players as rookies, with Tony Armstrong (Collingwood), Tanner Smith (Fremantle), Matthew Arnot (Richmond), Greg Broughton (Gold Coast) and Sam Grimley (Hawthorn) among them.

A handful of big men are also tipped to be drafted after just two ruckmen were selected in last week's national draft.
