SCANS have cleared Fremantle midfielder David Mundy of any damage to his right ankle after an injury scare at pre-season training on Wednesday morning.

Mundy, who has enjoyed a strong pre-season so far, appeared to roll his right ankle during stoppage drills at Fremantle Oval and sat out the rest of the session.

Given his recent history of ankle troubles, the clearance specialist was sent for scans as a precaution, with Fremantle confirming he was clear of damage on Wednesday afternoon.

Mundy suffered a serious ankle injury in 2011 and subsequent off-season surgery restricted him for the first half of 2012, but the 27-year-old's presence this pre-season has been a boost for his teammates.

The 2010 club champion finished 2012 in fine form, averaging 27 disposals and 6.5 clearances in the last seven games, highlighting his importance to the Fremantle midfield.

Mundy also polled Brownlow Medal votes in four of Fremantle's last five games in a sign he had returned to his 2010 best.
