YOUNG Western Bulldogs defender Jason Johannisen has been ruled out for the rest of the season after it was confirmed he would require surgery on a dislocated right AC joint.
Johannisen was collected by Greater Western Sydney forward Jeremy Cameron in a heavy collision during the third quarter of Saturday's clash at Manuka Oval.
He was substituted out with concussion, but the club confirmed on Sunday he had suffered no neck injuries as a result of the clash.
The 20-year-old has been a ray of hope for the Bulldogs in a tough campaign, missing just one game this season and averaging 16 possessions as a rebounding defender.
The former rookie made his debut against North Melbourne in round 19 last season, averaging 16 possessions in his three games before his season ended prematurely with a calf injury.
The South African-born speedster was elevated to the senior list for 2013.
